january 26 _ wiggle

Last night I went to one of my favorite places to dance in the city. It is called The Goodfoot Pub and Lounge, and on most Friday nights they host a funky dance party called “Soul Stew.” Down in the bar’s dark, low-ceiling basement, DJs spin records primarily from the 60s, while a hipster crowd grooves, boogies, and jives all night long.

I love these nights. The atmosphere feels safe, the drinks aren‘t overpriced, people are friendly, and the music just makes you want to wiggle. Some people are breaking out these wild dance moves, but for the most part, folks keep to a peppy bounce or or twist back and forth—there is no pressure. And the best part about the dancing? You cannot grind to 60s music. You can give a playful spin or some flirtatious eyes, but no one around you is sweating from body contact (just their constant wiggling). It‘s pretty great.

A night of smiling, wiggling, and alcohol—what more could you want? Who would like to join next time?

Keep peace and keep creating,

Parker <3

P.S. Here is a song I particularly liked last night:
