when i left
i said
i hope we grow
whether that is closer together
or further apart
time will tell
and for a while
it seemed to be the latter
i felt strong and free
but i was only looking
at the surface
soon enough
i stopped growing
and slowly became aware
of my roots
still intertwined
with yours
and i realized
this new strength and freedom
could only continue to grow again
if i dug deeper
into the one
who set me free
