april 2 _ compassion and beauty

This morning I read the simplest quote that honestly struck me to my core. It is from an old tea bag label that was sitting on my kitchen windowsill. (Check out the attached photograph.) It reads,

"Compassion will make you beautiful."

... Welp. That's it folks. I don't need to read or write anything ever again.

I loved it. I connected with it because it just summed up something I have really come to recognize over the past few years, and something that I strive to emulate. It is the most simple way to describe the reason I find some human beings to be SO incredibly attractive and inspiring. And I don't mean "attractive" in a sexual way, but in an "I really want to be your friend, drink tea and talk with you, and eventually just become you because you seem so genuine, kind, and joyful" kind of way. (I would describe this as a "strong friend crush.") We all know these people—a fun example might be the lovely grandmother from Disney's Moana. (See her here.) It's compassion. They have adopted it, and it has transformed them with some untouchable beauty that they can't help but exude. I would add that it often seems to be paired with a strong sense of spiritual connection as well.

What is true compassion other than a real awareness of the Divine in everything and everyone around you? How could this awareness not make you more genuine, kind, and joyful?

Compassion will make you beautiful.

Keep peace and keep creating,

Parker <3
